The best thing about making plans is that typically, no matter how detailed your plans are or how far out you’ve worked, nothing ever goes quite according to plan. So before I talk about what I did accomplish for Week 4 of the ORC, let me first come clean about what was on the agenda that did not happen. If you’re joining in for the first time, here’s Week 1, Week 2, and Week 3 for your viewing pleasure.
We did NOT get the painting done this week!!! The painter wasn’t available, which may actually have been a good thing because with a few extra days to sit and stare at the paint selections, we changed our minds and decided that Deep Silver would be even better than Charcoal Slate.
Now that that’s off my chest, let’s focus on the positive: our custom pieces are complete and all the major furniture is now in the room!
My clients and I couldn’t be happier with how all of these pieces came out. The Room&Board sofa is just as gorgeous in person as I hoped it would be, and the custom desk and credenza turned out A-MAZ-ING!
I just love how the walnut finish on the desk top evokes that Mid-century look, while the steel legs are oh so Industrial. Exactly the look I was going for, and I must say, expertly executed!
We decided on a desk chair and lamp, both of which have been ordered from CB2. The Rake Chair (which also comes in brass!) is part of the recently launched CB2 x Kravitz Design collection. If you haven’t yet, be sure to check it out – there are some fabulous pieces!

While I’m not quite where I had planned to be at this point (blank walls – still?!), I’m feeling good about the progress I’ve made. For the sake of keeping myself on track on this ever changing plan, here’s what I have left to do:
- New window treatments – decide yay or nay
- Install shelf above desk
- Select lighting
- Hang artwork
- Choose pillows for sofa
As always, be sure to stop by Calling it Home to see what everyone else is up to, and let me know what you think about my Week 4 progress! Oh, and if you have any wise ideas regarding window treatments, please let me know WWTWYC (What Window Treatments Would You Choose) for these bad boys:
