Here we are just barely two weeks into the One Room Challenge, and I already have a bit of Murphy’s Law at play! Remember last week how I shared my client’s empty, mattress on the floor master bedroom and the gorgeous blue and grey rooms that were serving as our design inspiration? Well, scratch that. Scratch all of that.
We are starting over, ladies and gentlemen!!! Due to some unforeseen travel obligations for my client, we have to put his design plans (and ORC) on hold. But do not fret – I will not let Murphy and his stupid law get the best of me! With some quick thinking and surprisingly little begging, I managed to convince another client (well, mainly his wife) to let me transform his space for the ORC.
I’m still staying on the masculine path, but this one will infuse a bit of Mid-century with a touch of Industrial, and instead of a master bedroom, I’ll be tackling a home office. Here’s a look at my blank canvas:
My clients moved into their new home a few months ago and already made some major upgrades, including staining the wood floors this beautiful gray color, so other than transforming the mirrored closet doors (my client hates them!) we’ll mostly be focusing on furniture and décor here.
Here’s a look at how we’re planning to lay out the room:
As I mentioned previously, we’re going for an overall look of Mid-century meets Industrial, with just a dash of Global (Mid-Globial?!). Here are a few of the spaces that we found inspiration in:

How am I going to tie all of that together? I’m thinking it’s going to look a little something like this:
And with that…I’m off! A few of these pieces are already happening/happened, but the rest I need to get hustling on. We’re picking paint colors this week and hopefully I’ll have some paint on the walls by next week!
Be sure to check in on the other One Room Challenge participants!
